Viny and I went to UVA last night for the Relay for Life. We met up with Lauren's family. It was such a powerful experience being there surrounded by so many people that have been effected one way or another by cancer. One of the most emotional parts of the night was the Survivor lap that kicked off the relay. We were all cheering for them as they lapped around the track. I turned to Viny and said, "that should have been Lauren there." He turned to me and was like, "what are you talking about? She's here lapping around with them!" It's true, she was there with us. She made sure to let us know that she was there. Later that evening, Lisa spoke about La and about how she was always a quite person never taking the credit for all the wonderful things that she did. Everyone we talked to seemed to reiterate that statement. Then, they had a silent, candle lit lap for Lauren. It was amazing to see everyone behind us with their candles for La.
